The Light that Calls Us Home
I snuck out during a blustery snow storm here on Cape Breton Island to snap this one.
It was “blowing a gale”, as they say, and we were waiting for Lloyd to come home from Halifax. It is only about five hours away but with blowing snow and white out conditions, it felt as though it were another world.
We placed one light in each window during the holidays but come take down time, I couldn’t bring myself to put away the centre window candle. It’s that time of year where if you forget to turn an outside light on when going out in the afternoon, the house is in complete darkness when you return. I now always leave on this little light, it’s so small but such a bright and warm greeting coming down the driveway; especially during a cold winter’s night.
No matter the hour, weather, or personal season, it is my hope that my little, Theodora, knows: you can always come home.
*Thank you to my friend, Amanda, for lending the name “The Light that Calls us Home”, it truly is, and I hope it always will be for those we love and anyone passing by whom might need a small sign of warmth and comfort.
Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by, -Samantha
